Information included in the 86 page build plan include:
- 17 pages of engineering drawings for the complete frame.
- Material list including sources and costs.
- Wiring schematic for control circuit.
- Arduino code and explanation of control parameters (sent in .ino format)
- Weld circuit grounding and control circuit isolation information.
Approximate cost can be as low as $300 (does not include the cost of steel or small hardware; nuts bolts etc).
Cost for the weld positioner I built is around $700 which includes a new lathe chuck, a large lathe face plate (used), an enclosure for the controls as well as a custom made name plate.
**Update** As of 4/1/2018, I have added a foot pedal control option. This foot pedal was around $120 which is in addition to the original cost shown above.
Please note, although these plans include complete drawings for the frame and a working control schematic, a fair amount of fabrication skills, mechanical and electrical aptitude and creativity is needed to build a complete, rotary weld positioner. Common knowledge of computers is also needed. Although the Arduino platform is fairly easy to use, it is open source and can be quirky at times. If you have any questions, please contact me before purchasing these plans. Due to the nature of these plans, refunds cannot be offered.
Occasionally, I will make some of the pieces required to build this weld positioner. I offer three different kits. A copy of the plans is included with each kit. To inquire about availability and shipping costs, please contact me
HERE.
Kit A: Includes part number SW001 and SW002. This kit is useful for those that are more than capable of building (including sourcing their own material) but do not have access to a lathe and would like to use interchangeable lathe chucks and face plates.
Cost: $75 + shipping

Kit B: Includes part numbers SW001, SW002, UFW001, UFW002, (2) UFW003, (2) UFW005, from Final Assembly drawing (RWP006, RWP007, IT. 7, IT. 8, IT. 9, IT.10), and from RWP002 ((4) It. 5). This kit is useful for those that don't want a whole stand and just want to clamp it to a welding table when used. A piece of angle iron (not included) could be welded so that vertical and horizontal mounting is possible. Note: UFW001 and UFW002 are not drilled for the rotation holes as shown in the drawings.
Cost: $215 + shipping

Kit C: Includes everything from Kit B plus UFW004, LFW001, LFW002, (2) LFW003 and (2) LFW004. This kit is useful for someone that wants to do little fabrication and get right to final assembly. Just add remaining small hardware (nuts, bolts etc) and control circuit hardware.
Cost: $325 + shipping
